Race and Racism has played a major part in American history from slavery to stereotypes.According to The American Heritage Dictionary Racism is the treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Discrimination is the treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. Racism is a distinct form of discrimination that allow people to make prejudice decisions about a group of people.Stereotypes are the main form of racism in the 21st century. When people think of ethnic racism a couple of groups come to mind: Chinese, Arabic, African, Indian, Irish, Jewish, Russian, and Armenian.
